Global environmental changes have large impacts on the Earth's life. The detailed process of environmental changes is being elucidated based on "various natural phenomena" such as earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and so on. It can be also recovered from "footprints" of various time-space scales: subsurface physical structures, geological strata, sampled rocks and minerals. In our laboratory, geophysical, petrological, and crystallographical researches are carried out for understanding the short- and long-term global changes, especially in the lithosphere. The laboratory measurements and experiments are important for our researches. We also go to the field works in land and ocean, and conduct computer simulations for reproducing the dynamic Earth's behavior.
