The function of respiratory enzymes is to provide free energy for maintaining the life process of cells. To understand such mechanisms, isolation and crystallization conditions for these enzymes have been examined to analyze the crystal structure at hydrogen atom level. Concurrently, various spectroscopic and biochemical techniques have been applied for characterization of these enzymes. Based on these results, we are attempting to elucidate the mechanism of cell respiration at the atomic level.
