Based upon multimodal application of wideband electromagnetic fields, such as radio-frequency, micro, and terahertz wave as well as laser light, we have elucidated the structure and functional characteristics of materials. By means of high-resolution laser-spectroscopy in the energy or time domain, we explore the frontiers of material science. In our laboratory, there is increasing interest in novel hyperpolarized matter showing huge nuclear magnetism and in semiconductor nanostructures specifically-designed to emit terahertz pulses.
