Introduction for School of Science
Chemistry for Functional Material Design
Yoshimichi Okano, Toru Shibata
Design of a functional material is usually undertaken in the following two steps. Firstly, we must learn how a molecule can perform a functionality from biological systems and conventional technologies. Secondary, we mimicrize or optimize the functionality by modifying molecular structures and by controlling the alignment of the molecules.
?@In this course, experimental and computational methods are used to study the biodegradation of polyester and the molecular recognition, including chiral recognition of polysaccharide derivatives.
